These organizations were started by Calgarians who recognized a pressing need in our community, and cared enough to do something about it. SeniorConnect  includes the SeniorConnect Education & Awareness Coordinator, SeniorConnect Expansion & Youth Coordinator and SeniorConnect Intake Outreach Worker, who is also a registered social worker. 4. Volunteer Services  includes two Volunteer Coordinators who oversee, in addition to special projects, volunteer recruitment and intake, the Seniors Social Link, Friendly Visiting and Telephone Reassurance programs. This line is operated by our partner organization, the Calgary Distress Centre. These calls are referred to our SeniorConnect Social Worker. Access to Support  Our SeniorConnect Social Worker gets in touch with seniors who have been identified through the Help Line and connects them to the community support services they need. We match isolated seniors with volunteers who share similar interests. Volunteers make a minimum commitment of one hour per week for six months. Matched pairs participate in a variety of activities, from visiting over a cup of tea to playing a game of cards or getting out for a walk. Here we go& {  /Telephone Reassurance &The Telephone Reassurance program involves volunteers making daily phone calls at pre-arranged times to check on the well-being of our senior clients. Seniors and volunteers are matched so that similar interests are shared. The Telephone Reassurance program reassures clients that they're not alone. Daily contact decreases the risk, as well as the anxiety, associated with living alone. Easy does it&  2"(Seniors Social Link lThe Seniors' Social Link program facilitates purposeful activity, relationship building and social contact for isolated, at-risk seniors living in the community. Program activities include tea and conversation, interactive projects such as gardening, educational presentations on current issues facing seniors and cultural or musical entertainment. CSRS has teamed up with the Calgary Motor Dealers Association to develop a shuttle service to transport CSRS clients, living in subsidized seniors residences, to and from the Seniors Social Link program. This partnership has been immensely successful and we expect to see participation in the program continue to increase.
