A Special Holiday Greeting From our Executive Director

CONNECT · DISCOVER · FLOURISH
For over two and a half decades Calgary Seniors has blended social work when appropriate, urgent supports when needed, and coordinated a network of volunteers that provide care and connections that create meaningful and effective changes in seniors’ overall well-being and quality of life.
The seniors we serve are as diverse as the types of assistance we provide – but they all have one thing in common. They need the right connections to discover their best life – and to flourish. Whether it’s connecting with a trusted social worker, a compassionate volunteer or another community resource or nonprofit agency,
we are here to make it happen!
Your donation helps us to create inclusive communities where connection inspires discovery and all people can flourish
Connection - Where it all Starts!
Imagine your life being turned upside down due to the loss of a loved one, and being evicted because you cannot pay the rent on your own. Totally alone and living in your car - with your cat - without the support of your friends, family, and community. Experiencing the massive loss, and not knowing where to go or what to do.
And what if you had no food for either of you, no pet supplies, and unable to afford your medication, or even the gas to run your car and keep yourself warm at night?
This was Chuck’s life before being referred to Calgary Seniors through SeniorConnect.
Our response workers connected with him and offered him emergency food supplies, cat food and litter, and financial support to purchase his medications and gas for his car.
Then, through our KINDred Seniors Transitional Housing, we offered him a short-term, fully furnished unit for a short period of time while he was being supported to overcome his barriers – at no cost to
him. A place to shower, with his own kitchen. A safe place with support… to move forward… to breathe. To obtain income and eventually find his own place to live with his cat, Harold.
When Chuck first came to his Transitional Unit, he was surprised. “I thought I was in the wrong place … this is for me?”
From there, Chuck had everything he needed to get back on his feet and got further assistance from our SeniorConnect team to move into his own permanent home in a welcoming community with Harold. Clients like him also connect with us regularly through our Seniors Social Supports volunteer programs, getting help with their grocery shopping and rides to medical appointments.
At Calgary Seniors, we are more than just an agency for emergencies or people in crisis. Our programs create connection, inspire discovery, and help older people flourish.
Your donation will allow us to help more people like Chuck, every single day and prevent them from falling through the cracks.

Will you connect with us and help clients like Chuck, and other seniors in Calgary, live the life they want and deserve?
