SOCIAL WORK & OUTREACH

COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES
EMERGENCY SOCIAL WORK RESPONSE
(SENIORCONNECT)

Due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, our physical office, drop-in hours, and forms clinics are currently closed. For the health and safety of our clients and staff, we have also limited our in-person supports. We know that seniors are at higher risk of challenges related to the COVID-19 virus, and we are continuing to provide support to seniors throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.

We are continuing to work closely with the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services, and the Calgary Emergency Management Agency to ensure that we serve those in need while keeping the health and safety of our clients, staff, volunteers, and community as the highest priority.

If you need us, we are here to help, please call The Way In Network - 403-SENIORS at 403-736-4677 or, if you need immediate assistance, call the Distress Centre at 403-266-4357.

SeniorConnect continues to be concerned about the health and safety of those most vulnerable older adults who have no supports and are not identified by traditional referral methods. These older adults are at an increased risk of social isolation due to the COVID-19.

SeniorConnect provides an urgent same day social work response for older adults identified as being at-risk or in crisis and is available outside regular hours.

If you are concerned about an older adult and believe they are at-risk, please call The Distress Centre 24-hr help line at 403.266.4357 and explain your concerns to the call operator.  A SeniorConnect social worker will address immediate concerns to stabilize the crisis and connect them to appropriate longer-term supports.
